Keynote Speakers Dr. Pushpak Bhattacharyya Dr. Pushpak Bhattacharyya is Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay. He earned his B. Tech. degree from IIT Kharagpur in 1984 and his M. Tech. from IIT Kanpur in 1986. He completed his PhD from IIT Bombay in 1994. He was a Visiting research fellow in Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990. He is well known for his contributions to natural language processing and has several distinctions in that field. He has also currently been appointed as Vijay and Sita Vashee Chair Professor. Dr. Rajkumar Buyya ![]() Dr. Rajkumar Buyya is a Fellow of IEEE, Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering and Director of the Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems (CLOUDS) Laboratory at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is also serving as the founding CEO of Manjrasoft, a spin-off company of the University, commercializing its innovations in Cloud Computing. He served as a Future Fellow of the Australian Research Council during 2012-2016. He has authored over 525 publications and seven text books including "Mastering Cloud Computing" published by McGraw Hill, China Machine Press, and Morgan Kaufmann for Indian, Chinese and international markets respectively. He also edited several books including "Cloud Computing: Principles and Paradigms" (Wiley Press, USA, Feb 2011). He is one of the highly cited authors in computer science and software engineering worldwide (h-index=110, g-index=230, 60,200+ citations). Microsoft Academic Search Index ranked Dr. Buyya as #1 author in the world (2005-2016) for both field rating and citations evaluations in the area of Distributed and Software technologies for Grid and Cloud computing developed under Dr. Buyya's leadership have gained rapid acceptance and are in use at several academic institutions and commercial enterprises in 40 countries around the world. Dr. Buyya has led the establishment and development of key community activities, including serving as foundation Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing and five IEEE/ACM conferences. These contributions and international research leadership of Dr. Buyya are recognized through the award of "2009 IEEE Medal for Excellence in Scalable Computing" from the IEEE Computer Society TCSC. Manjrasoft's Aneka Cloud technology developed under his leadership has received "2010 Frost & Sullivan New Product Innovation Award". Recently, Dr. Buyya received "Bharath Nirman Award" and "Mahatma Gandhi Award" along with Gold Medals for his outstanding and extraordinary achievements in Information Technology field and services rendered to promote greater friendship and India-International cooperation. He served as the founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing. He is currently serving as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Software: Practice and Experience, which was established over 45 years ago. Prof. Valentina E. Balas Valentina E. Balas is currently Professor in the Department of Automatics and Applied Software at the Faculty of Engineering, University “Aurel Vlaicu” Arad (Romania). She is author of more than 170 research papers in refereed journals and International Conferences. Her research interests are in Intelligent Systems, Fuzzy Control, Soft Computing, Smart Sensors, Information Fusion, Modeling and Simulation. She is Editor-in Chief to International Journal of Advanced Intelligence Paradigms (IJAIP), member in Editorial Boards for national and international journals, serves as reviewer for many International Journals and conferences and is evaluator expert for national and international projects. She participated in many international conferences as General Chair, Organizer, Session Chair and member in International Program Committee. She was mentor for many student teams in Microsoft (Imagine Cup), Google and IEEE competitions in the last six years. Dr. Valentina Balas has a great experience in research projects. He is a Fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy, National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, India and a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of the Developing world (TWAS), Trieste, Italy. He has served on IEEE Esterel Standards Committee. He is a Fellow of the Computer Society of India (CSI), and was the founding Editor-in-Chief of the CSI Journal of Computing and serves on the Editorial of Sadhana- Journal of Engineering Sciences of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, India. He is also a Fellow of IETE and its Diamond Jubilee medal awardee.
